Foreword
Welcome to the website of the J.Monnet project "Education for the future of Europe" (EFE). The J.Monnet Programme is part of the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP); it aims at promoting knowledge about the issues related to the European Unification process at the University and at school, through new teaching modules about "how to teach Europe at school" (modules at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy), sharing existing teaching experiences (cooperation with the schools), producing teaching material in European Dimension for some disciplines, particularly for civics, and through activities in education like exchanges, exibitions etc. It means promoting teaching about the European common development, deepening knowledge under an European point of view near the local and national one, stimulating effective teaching methods. We inquiry about some existing dilemmas and about the possible consequences of the decisions taken in our time. We study the relation between Europeans in the past and nowadays, first of all in the process of building the European Union, situated in the global context, regarding to the developments in institutional, legal, political, economic and social, cultural fields. The project activities support an European and Intercultural identity, emphasize competent and active citizenship, a sense of belonging and responsibility to the present day and to both the individual and collective future. |
